Springfield Rock & Gem Fair Spring

Every year, we hold a Gem Fair on the grounds of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Springfield, MO.

This started as a rock swap between members, morphed into a public sale of members’ crafts, and finally became a miniature show. Vendors selling rocks, minerals, gems, fossils, unique jewelry, used lapidary equipment, etc., set up outdoors on the church grounds. The fair is held the 1st weekend in June (June 6-7, 2025). Springfield Rock, Gem & Mineral Show Fall

For over 50 years, OGMS has hosted a fall Rock, Gem & Mineral Show.

The Show consists of vendors and exhibits that further our club mandate to study and promote an interest in earth science, geology, paleontology, and mineralogy; study lapidary and jewelry-making art; conduct education; support youth activities; and encourage interest in earth science.

This show is held on the 3rd weekend of October (October 17-19, 2025) at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds and Event Center’s E*Plex West Hall on N Grant Ave in Springfield, Missouri. Our club is a state & federal non-profit, and the gate at the show is our yearly major fundraiser.

NO WEAPONS. Service Dogs Only.

What are the event dates and times?

Ozark Empire Fairgrounds and Event Center E*Plex West Hall (same location as the Library Center’s Book Sale)
Why are you moving from the Springfield Expo Center to the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds?
We’re excited to move to the E*Plex at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds, which offers more space for vendors and attendees and improved parking.
Is there an admission fee?
Yes. $5 for ages 5 and above. $20 for families of 4 or more.
What does the admission fee cover?

Why did the weekend change?
We used to have it on the 3rd weekend every year, but Missouri State University’s Homecoming parade conflicts with our event, closing many streets downtown. With moving to the E*Plex, we can return to our regular weekend.

Parking & Accessibility
Is parking available?
Yes. Ozark Empire Fairgrounds has plenty of free parking.
Is the venue accessible?
Yes, the West entrance has two sets of double doors with a flat entrance. The booths will be set up at least 10 feet between each.
Are there drop-off zones?
There is a driveway in front of the E*Plex where you can drop off and pick up someone.

Activities and Vendors
What kind of vendors will be there?
Vendors may change yearly, but several sell minerals, lapidary material, hand-made jewelry, fossils, geodes, and more.
Will there be activities for kids?
On Saturday and Sunday, the Kid’s Corner will be open, where kids can fill an egg carton with rock and mineral samples (while supplies last), participate in a rock race (for $0.25 per run), or pick up a scavenger hunt form.
Is there a silent auction?
Yes, the auction will run for the entire show.
Are there door prizes or giveaways?
No, but we will have a raffle. Tickets are $10 each or $50 for 6.

Food and Amenities
Will there be food or drinks available?
The E*Plex will have its West Hall food vendor open during the event.
Are pets allowed?
No, only service dogs are allowed.
Are restrooms available?
Yes, the West Hall has bathrooms.
Will seating be available?
Yes, we will have seating set up near the food vendor.

Planning Your Visit
Can I buy tickets in advance?
No, we only sell them at the door.
Can I re-enter if I leave?
Yes! Just hold onto your ticket to show at the door for re-entry.
How much time should I plan to spend at the show?
It depends on how long you’d like to spend at each booth. Plan for at least an hour and a half to two hours to see everything.
What should I bring?
Some vendors only take cash. While an ATM is on-site, we recommend bringing enough money as the ATM may run out.
What if the weather is bad?
This is an indoor event, so it will be held rain or shine.
Is there Wi-Fi available for attendees?
The venue offers Wi-Fi for vendors, but it is not publicly available for attendees.
What is the event’s policy on photography?
Photography is allowed, but we kindly ask that you check with individual vendors before photographing their items.
Can I volunteer at the event?
Absolutely! Send us a note through our contact form if you are interested in volunteering.

Health & Safety
Are there any COVID-19 precautions in place?
Not at this time.
What should I do if I lose something at the event?
If it’s only been a few minutes, check back with the booths you visited. After that, visit the OGMS booth.
What should I do in the case of an emergency?
Visit the OGMS booth or contact one of the club members (in the teal shirts).

Post-Event
Can I get a refund if I can’t attend?
Cancellations after September 30, 2025, will incur forfeiture of payment. If the show is canceled by OGMS or for reasons outside our control, we will refund all fees.
Will there be another show next year?
Yes, this is a yearly event. We also do a smaller fair the first weekend in June at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
